Glossop Watersports Club

Who we are and what we do

Glossop Watersports Club is a welcoming club in a beautiful environment, run by enthusiastic members who enjoy SUPing, sailing, windsurfing, winging and foiling. The club operates entirely through the efforts of each member, who volunteer on a few occasions throughout the year to help in a variety of ways: with on-water safety cover, maintaining the club house, gardening, helping to run social events, covering the snack bar over lunchtime at weekends etc. The club has a buddy system for water use, runs leisure sessions with safety boat cover and organises competitive racing for all levels. We also have a vibrant junior windsurfing club, are RYA affiliated and run several RYA training courses each year. As well as our clubhouse, we have external and container-based spaces where members can store kit if wanted.

We are a friendly and inclusive club, and our members range from occasional, leisure water users to National and European champions. Saturdays are fun days for 9 to 18 year-olds with structured and supervised water-based activities for junior members with a responsible adult in attendance. Grown-ups are also encouraged to help and gain skills too! During these sessions, club kit can be hired for use.

The Club is an officially recognised RYA Training Centre, and offers RYA training courses in windsurfing and power boat handling to junior and adult members. The qualifications recognised in these certificates allow a progression of expertise, from complete beginner to advanced level and instructor qualification
